In Affliction

In affliction, I grew close to God,

In affliction, Did I find solace in the Cross,

In affliction, Did my face shine bright with Christ’s light.

In affliction, I shed a many tears,

In affliction, I found my hidden fears.

In affliction, I walked the lonely road,

In affliction, Goodbye to the world I bode.

For no fair weather made a strong sailor,

And no fair life, made a strong Christian.

I look back on affliction like an old friend,

Smiling now with wisdom from beyond,

For in my deepest affliction,
