Unforbidden Joy

There are so many options to choose from,

Despair, anxiety, depression, panic and self-pity.

But I have made my choice,

And I will stick to it,

I choose Joy.

Yes, there’s a virus on the loose,

Yes, there are thousands dead,

Yes, the lockdown is kinda scary,

Yes, I am afraid to watch the news these days,

Yes, the world might be ending, who knows?!

But Joy is not forbidden, is it?!

So today, I choose Joy.

I choose to worship,

I choose to give thanks,

I choose to snuggle closer to my Saviour,

I choose to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit.

Tough times have always been there,

And tough times will always be there.

When the state of the world overwhelms my soul,

I will choose to rejoice in the Lord,

For there lies my strength.

Whenever my busy thoughts were out of control, the soothing comfort of your presence calmed me down and overwhelmed me with delight.
