You come looking to me for answers,
You come knocking on heaven’s doors,
To plead your case and pry open my fingers for more.
Stop fighting with me, Child,
For I am not your enemy.
I feel your pain,
I see your tears,
and I am just as helpless as you are.
Yes, the Lord of the universe – I am helpless,
I do not bend time and events to my liking,
I let man make his choices and let the chips fall where they may,
I stand back until the time has come.
I feel your frustration,
I know the agony you bear,
But I can not manipulate mankind for your sake.
Nevertheless, I can walk with you through this,
I can sit with your silent thoughts,
I am not annoyed by your worries,
I do not ridicule your fears.
I walked to the cross, all alone,
So that you won’t ever have to be alone,
Will you stop fighting with me and
Let me walk with you?
O Lord , how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way? How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand? Turn and answer me, O Lord my God! Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die. Don’t let my enemies gloat, saying, “We have defeated him!” Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall. But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me.
Psalms 13:1-6 NLT
